This patient opted for a breast lift due to loss of volume and weight changes which naturally occur due to pregnancy. At this time, she was not interested in a breast augmentation (implants), however, she stills has the option to add implants later on. The entire breast lift procedure was completed under local anesthesia within his private office, operating room.
Patients that request a breast lift typically have sagging and/or uneven breasts, a natural decreased breast volume or drooping nipples and stretched areolas. By undergoing a breast lift, Dr. Lebowitz’s patients have a more youthful shape and lift to their breasts. Many of his patients also request a breast augmentation to provide additional volume.
Watch as Dr. Lebowitz surgically lifts her breast and areola nipple complex. As you can see, the patient is awake during the entire procedure, fully relaxed with no pain. Dr. Lebowitz carefully excises/cuts the skin, not the breast tissue to perform the lift. Many patients are relieved to know that nipple and areola sensation is preserved, as well as the ability to breastfeed since these parts remain attached to the underlying tissue during the procedure.
A breast lift surgery can take 1-3 hours to perform, depending on the type of lift the patient is having performed and how much correction is required. The specific method chosen for a breast lift depends on your anatomy and how you want to look. The most common method of breast lift surgery involves three incisions which you can see in this video. Dr. Lebowitz places 3 incisions to perform the lift – (i) incision around the areola, (ii) vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the crease under the breast and (iii) horizontally beneath the natural curve of the crease. Every incision is carefully made to keep scarring to a minimum.
Dr. Lebowitz personally monitors each patients’ progress and gives complete instructions to help speed their recovery. All his breast lift patients are able to go home the same day and return to work within a few days. Some patients may need to wear a bandage or surgical bra for a short period of time to help with recovery. The incision scars will also become inconspicuous and fine-lined over time.
